Accreditation

Processing of questions relating to standards

The section „Accreditation“ has the aim to prepare questions and statements in connection with the accreditation and recognition of medical laboratories and their associated standards with regard to clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine and to coordinate these within the DGKL as well as with the DGKL executive committee. This is intended to strengthen the position and perception of the DGKL as a scientific specialist society in the field of accreditation and recognition.

As the largest German scientific association in the field of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, the DGKL has delegates in national and international committees who deal with questions of accreditation and recognition of laboratories and pass resolutions and issue rules in this field.

Accreditation and recognition of medical laboratories in Germany is the responsibility of the German Accreditation Body („Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle“, DAkkS) or the Central Authority of the Länder for Health Protection with regard to Medicinal Products and Medical Devices („Zentralstelle der Länder für Gesundheitsschutz bei Arzneimitteln und Medizinprodukten“, ZLG). DGKL members are represented in the DAkkS and ZLG committees.

The main focus of the section's activities is on:

  • Processing of requests for accreditation and recognition of medical laboratories (DIN EN ISO 15189 and 17025).
  • Processing of inquiries at the interface between DIN EN ISO 15189 and RiliBÄK.
  • Preparation of statements on topics of accreditation and recognition of medical laboratories on behalf of the DGKL.
  • Coordination of statements and resolutions on accreditation and recognition of medical laboratories within the DGKL committees and with the DGKL executive committee.
  • Selection and confirmation of experts for clinical chemistry.
  • Revision and maintenance of the checklist for clinical chemistry for the standard DIN EN ISO 15189 on behalf of DAkkS and ZLG.
